Anglo American rewards staff for safety

On the 20th of May 2009, the Sandton Convention Centre hosted the Anglo American Chief Executive Safety Awards, focusing around Zero Harm and aiming to recognise and reward all role players of safety throughout Anglo American. True Colour Events was appointed to assist with the brief of making a difference, both in safety and in the implementation of the event. Wow Factor Design and Décor and True Technical supported True Colour Events, transforming the Pavilion into a pleasurable sight.

Executive Safety Awards was attended by high profile guests and dignitaries from all corners of the world including Brazil, Chile, Ireland and Austrailia, representing all business sectors.

Premilla Hamid General Manager of Public Affairs acted as MC for the evening introducing a performance line up of stars. A capella band, Navi Redd flabbergasted guests with their astounding performance, supported by saxophonist Femi and Violinist Cristina Rodrigues, the entertainment had attendees intrigued throughout the evening.

Awards, presented by Gareth Llewellyn, Group Head of safety and Sustainable Development, sustained by Cynthia Carroll, CEO of Anglo American, the evening celebrated the achievements of individuals who continue to contribute to the safety of making Anglo American a safe place to work.

“All of those nominated for these awards deserve our thanks and congratulations,” said Cynthia Carroll - where all nominees were hailed as winners at the awards evening. “I very much hope that the excellence of their safety leadership and performance will inspire each of us to stay focused on safety and to do what we can in our teams, businesses and business units, to make Anglo a safe - and healthy place to work,” she added.
